Deuteronomy 30:19-20

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

A New Day at Union

Today we had Fall Convocation and Dorm Dedication here at Union. We began in the chapel with our normal ceremonies of honoring those who have helped in the past and welcoming in new faculty and students. Instead of an address from our president Dr. David S. Dockery, he retold the story of the last 7 months that we all know so well. From the chapel, we moved to the dorms and had a Dorm Dedication Ceremony, dedicating the 15 new dorms to God. Afterwards, we were given the opportunity to see the newest addition to campus, the February 5th tornado memorial. Here are pictures of that below:

(Above) Desuner Hall is where I began my college career here at Union. I lived in that building for 3 semesters.

(Above) I lived in this building for a whole 7 days! This is the building I was in the night of tornado.

This memorial is surrounded by these squares. 2 sides consist of the names of all 14 dorms that were destroyed in the tornado. The other 2 sides list around 200 donors who gave significant amounts of money for our rebuilding process. Thanks to all the donors who helped us out in this time of need so that we could have dorms back on campus as we began the Fall Semester. This memorial will forever show what used to be Union. But as Dr. Dockery said this morning, this is a "New Day" for Union University.
