I don't know if you have heard the new CD by Chris Tomlin yet or not. I bought just a few days ago, and have listened through it many times now. There are many good songs, and they have a powerful message throughout. There is one song in particular that you might recognize. That is "Jesus Messiah," and it has been on Christian radio for the past couple of months. It is a typical Tomlin song with a powerful message.
..
Here are the lyrics:
..
He became sin
Who knew no sin
That we might become His Righteousness
He humbled himself and carried the cross
Love so amazing Love so amazing
..
Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all
..
His body the bread
His blood the wine
Broken and poured out all for love
The whole earth trembled
And the veil was torn
Love so amazing Love so amazing, yeah
..
Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all
..
All our hope is in You
All our hope is in You
All the glory to You, God
The light of the world
..
Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all
Just by reading the lyrics, the song comes across as a basic message. And really that is all this song is. It talks about Jesus and what He has done for us. It shows how the Gospel really is that simple. Many times we make Christianity more complicated than it ought to be. And that leads others to thinking that there is more to do than just accept Jesus into their life. They expect some manual labor or chores in order to get to Heaven. But we know, as Christians, that the Gospel really is that simple. There is not a lot I can even say about this song because it so self-explanatory. Read and think about the lyrics, and do not make the Gospel more complicated than it should be.
Matt
